Hello everyone! I hope you’re all doing well in this hot summer heat – I know that even with air conditioning the kitchen’s been pretty warm around here so far, firing off menus and orders left and right.

I’m also waaaaay behind on posting pictures, so let’s get down to business! (And not in chronological order, oops.)

Delicious breakfast basket for new parents!

I had a request from a lovely lady who contacted me through my website for a breakfast basket of goodies for a pair of new parents to a lovely baby boy. Thinking of how absolutely exhausted new parents must be caring for a newborn, I think having breakfast or a snack within easy reach is a thoughtful way to support them without asking them ‘what can I do for you?’

What's in the basket of goodies?

I put together a basket of twelve items plus a six inch coffee cake (peach with vanilla drizzle). Four turnovers (two raspberry, two raspberry almond), four mini banana loaves (two with walnuts, two plain) and four bakery-style blueberry cinnamon muffins – along with a congratulations card. My dear husband (and occasionally delivery fellow) was able to deliver them for me as it was my weekend to work, and I’m pretty sure they were received with pleasure (and some sleep deprivation).

Trying something new with my photos now, too: I invested in a tripod, a standalone light, and a small backdrop to help make things look a little better. What do you think? (I figure it’s pretty obvious which ones were taken with which setup.) I think it’ll be a nicer way to take shots, plus maybe in the future I can do some shorts or something to post; the colours are turning out better and you don’t see my messy kitchen post-baking spree.
